Terms of Service
Effective date: 24 September 2026
These Terms govern your use of the Klack mobile application and the klack.club website (together, the “Service”), provided by Suuntio (“we”, “us”, “our”), a business established in Finland.
By downloading, installing, or using Klack you agree to these Terms. When you create a Klack account, the app tells you that continuing means you agree to these Terms and links to them; creating the account confirms that agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Klack is a scorekeeping application for the game of Mölkky. It records games, players and statistics, primarily on your own device, and offers optional online features for sharing games, streaming a game to a live screen on klack.club, moving your data to a new phone, and backing up your data. With a free Klack account it also offers a Klack profile and social features: friends, friend requests, and sharing your statistics with your friends and the people you play with (section 7).
Klack is an unofficial, enthusiast-made scorekeeper. “Mölkky” is a trademark of its respective owners. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by them, and we make no claim to that trademark.
2. Who may use Klack
You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent where you live) to create a Klack account and to use the Klack profile and friends features that come with it. If you are under the age of majority, you may use Klack only with the consent of a parent or guardian. You may use Klack without a Klack account at any age; in that mode the app holds no account about you, and what little it does process is described in our Privacy Policy.
3. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Klack on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with these Terms and with the rules of the store you obtained it from.
You may not: reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app except where that right cannot be excluded by law; rent, sell, or sublicense it; remove proprietary notices; use it to build a competing product; or use automated means to access our backend outside the app.
4. Klack accounts
A Klack account is optional and free. If you create one:
- Give accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
- You are responsible for activity under your Klack account.
- Tell us promptly at support@klack.club if you suspect unauthorised access.
- You also set up a Klack profile with a username, which other Klack users can see (section 7).
- You may delete your Klack account in the app at any time. Deletion is permanent and removes your cloud data, your Klack profile and username, the statistics you share with others, and your friendships and friend requests. It does not cancel a store subscription.
A Klack account is not required for a Klack Pro subscription. It is required for cloud backup, which stores data under your account (section 5.1), and for the profile and friends features (section 7).
We may suspend or terminate a Klack account that materially breaches these Terms, that is used unlawfully, or that abuses the Service in a way that harms other users or our infrastructure. Where reasonably possible we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
5. Klack Pro subscriptions
5.1 What it is
Klack Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription offered at $0.99 per month or $8.99 per year (or the equivalent in your local currency, as shown in the app before you buy). It unlocks additional features; the core app, including the Klack profile and friends features, remains free.
No Klack account is needed to subscribe. Every Pro feature except cloud backup works without one. Cloud backup stores your games under a Klack account, so it requires you to create or sign in to one. If you subscribe without an account and later sign in, your subscription follows you to that account and to your other devices; use Restore purchases if it does not appear.
5.2 Free trial
Each plan may begin with a free introductory trial, currently two weeks. The trial is Apple’s or Google’s own introductory offer on the subscription: the store decides whether you are eligible (usually once per store account), holds your payment method for the duration, and shows the trial length and the price that follows before you confirm. At the end of the trial the subscription converts automatically to the paid plan at the price shown, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing. During the trial you have exactly the same features as a paying subscriber.
5.3 Billing
Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase, or at the end of a free trial. We never receive your payment details. The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your App Store or Google Play account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
5.4 Managing and cancelling
Manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings — not in Klack, and not by contacting us. The app’s Manage subscription button takes you there. Cancelling stops future renewals; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, or until the end of the trial. Deleting the app, or deleting your Klack account, does not cancel a subscription.
5.5 Price changes
We may change the price. If we do, we will give you notice in advance through the app or the store, and the new price will apply only from your next renewal. Where the law requires it, your explicit consent will be sought and the subscription will not renew at the new price without it.
5.6 Refunds
Purchases are processed by Apple and Google, and refunds are governed by their policies. Contact Apple Support or Google Play Support for a refund. We can help you get there, but we cannot issue store refunds ourselves.
5.7 Right of withdrawal (EU/EEA consumers)
As a consumer in the EU/EEA you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. By starting a subscription you request that the Service begin immediately and acknowledge that you lose the right of withdrawal once it has been fully performed. A free trial can be cancelled at no cost at any time before it converts. Statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived are unaffected.
5.8 What happens if you stop subscribing
Your local data is never taken away. Restoring your games from the cloud remains free. Cloud copies of your games are retained for 6 months after a subscription lapses, including a trial that was cancelled, and we warn you in the app, with the deletion date, before they are removed.
6. Your content
Game data, player names, and statistics you enter are yours. You keep all rights to them.
You grant us a limited licence to store, transmit and process that content only to operate the features you use — relaying a live game to its participants and to a live screen you paired, moving your data to a new phone, storing your backup, and, if you have a Klack profile, showing your username, display name, avatar and statistics to the other Klack users your visibility setting admits (section 7.2). We do not use your content for any other purpose, do not disclose it to third parties except the processors named in our Privacy Policy and the other users you share it with through these features, and do not use it to train machine-learning models. The licence ends when you delete the content or your Klack account.
Live screen links. When you pair a live screen, its address becomes a link to the scoreboard. Anyone who has the link can watch the game until you stop the stream or end the session. You decide who receives that link.
You are responsible for the content you enter. Do not enter names or text that are unlawful, abusive, hateful, or that infringe someone’s rights. Do not enter other people’s personal data beyond a display name without a basis for doing so.
7. Your Klack profile and friends
7.1 Username and profile
Your Klack profile shows other Klack users a username you choose, your display name (the name you gave yourself in the app) and an avatar made from your initials. Your username must be unique and must follow the format the app shows when you choose it. The current format is on our Support page. Some names are reserved for Klack. A new username or display name that contains a word on our list of offensive words is refused automatically. You can change your username at any time, and your old username is then free for anyone to take.
Choose your username and display name knowing that other users will see them. They must not:
- impersonate another person, Klack, Suuntio or any organisation, or suggest an affiliation you do not have
- be offensive, hateful, discriminatory, sexually explicit, harassing or threatening
- infringe anyone’s trademark or other rights, or advertise anything
- reveal someone else’s personal information, such as a phone number or address
We may require you to change a username or display name that breaks these rules, change or reset it ourselves, or reclaim a username for someone with a better right to it, such as the holder of a trademark. In serious or repeated cases we may remove the profile or suspend the account (section 4). A username gives you no ownership of the name.
7.2 What other users see
You choose who can see your profile and your statistics in Settings → Privacy → Who can see my stats: only you, your friends, your friends and the people you have played with (the default), or anyone who finds your username. While you have a profile, your app publishes a summary of your statistics (your stat card) to our servers so that the people you chose can see it; your games stay on your phone. Anyone you let scan your friend code can see your name and avatar and send you a friend request, whatever your setting, unless you have blocked them (section 7.4). Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what is shared and with whom.
Statistics are computed by each user’s own phone and published as they are. We do not verify them, and we are not responsible for the accuracy of other users’ statistics or of the friend leaderboards built from them.
7.3 Friends
A friendship needs both people to agree: one sends a request and the other accepts it. You can send requests by exact username, by scanning a friend code in the app, or to people you have played with. Either of you can end a friendship at any time, and the other person is not told. Declining a request is silent too. To keep requests welcome, the number of requests you can send and the number that can wait for an answer at once are limited, and once a declined request has been withdrawn, you cannot ask the same person again for a while. The current limits are on our Support page.
The profile and friends features are free and do not require Klack Pro. The only link to Klack Pro is that the Klack Pro statistics on your stat card are shown to others only while you subscribe.
7.4 Reporting abuse
If a username, a display name or another user’s behaviour, such as repeated unwanted friend requests, is abusive, unlawful or breaks these Terms, report it. In the app, open the person’s player card and choose ⋯ → Report. This opens an email to support@klack.club with their username and a reference to their account already filled in; add why you are reporting them, and send it. You can also write to support@klack.club yourself: include the username (a screenshot helps) and why you are reporting it. Anyone can report content they believe is illegal, including people without a Klack account.
We review each report ourselves. Apart from the automatic name checks in section 7.1 (the username format, the reserved names, and the list of offensive words that usernames and display names are checked against), we do not moderate content automatically. If we act on a report or on our own review, for example by requiring a change, resetting a username, removing a profile or suspending an account, we tell the affected user what we did and why, where we have a way to reach them, and they can contest the decision by replying to support@klack.club. We also let the person who reported it know what we decided.
You can also protect yourself in the app: decline or ignore requests, remove a friend, and choose Friends or Only me, so that no one new can find you by username or send you a request except by scanning a friend code you show them. To stop one person, block them from their player card (⋯ → Block): the block ends your friendship, they can no longer find you or see your profile, and their friend requests and game invitations no longer reach you. They are not told. You can unblock them under Settings → Privacy → Blocked people.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service unlawfully, or to harass, bully, threaten or harm anyone
- Send unwanted, repeated or bulk friend requests
- Try to find, list or collect other users’ usernames, profiles or statistics by guessing, scripts or other automated means
- Publish false statistics, for example with a modified app
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, data, or system
- Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure
- Circumvent access controls, feature gating, purchase verification, or usage limits
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation
9. Availability and changes
Klack’s core scorekeeping is designed to work offline and does not depend on our servers. Online features, including the klack.club live screen and the profile and friends features, do, and we do not promise uninterrupted availability — we may need to perform maintenance, update, or occasionally suspend them. When our servers cannot be reached, the friends screens show what your app saved last.
We may add, change, or discontinue features. If we discontinue or materially reduce a feature you have paid for, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance (section 15) and, where appropriate, refund the unused part of the period.
10. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Klack is a scorekeeping aid, not a rules authority. You are responsible for the correctness of the scores you record and for how they are used, including in any competition or tournament. Always keep your own record of results that matter to you: we do not warrant that local or cloud data will never be lost.
Usernames, display names and statistics come from users, not from us. Apart from the automatic checks on new names (section 7.1), we do not check them in advance, but we act on reports as section 7.4 describes.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory consumer rights under Finnish and EU law.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) EUR 50.
This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or to any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Apple App Store terms
The following applies when you obtain Klack from the Apple App Store:
- These Terms are between you and Suuntio only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for Klack or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance or support for Klack.
- If Klack fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever.
- Suuntio, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claim relating to Klack, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer protection claims.
- Suuntio, not Apple, is responsible for investigating and resolving any third-party claim that Klack infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
13. Google Play
If you obtained Klack from Google Play, your use is additionally subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. These Terms are between you and Suuntio, not Google.
14. Intellectual property
Klack, its name, logo, design, and software are owned by Suuntio and protected by copyright and other laws. These Terms grant you no rights in our trademarks.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. We publish each new version on this page with a new effective date.
If a change takes away something you have, adds a cost or a duty for you, or makes Klack Pro worse for subscribers, we tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, in the app and in a “What changed” box at the top of this page. Other changes, such as a new optional feature, clearer wording or a corrected mistake, take effect when we publish them. A change the law requires may take effect sooner.
If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the new Terms. If you do not accept them, stop using the Service and, if you wish, delete your Klack account before the change takes effect. If you subscribe to Klack Pro, you can cancel in your App Store or Google Play account (section 5.4). Changes to our Privacy Policy follow the same approach (Privacy Policy, section 10).
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes shall be resolved by the District Court of Helsinki, Finland.
If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and may bring proceedings in your local courts. Consumers in Finland may also refer a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi) after first contacting the Consumer Advisory Service (kuluttajaneuvonta.fi). For a cross-border dispute, consumers in the EU can also get help from the European Consumer Centre in their country.
17. General
If any provision is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. These Terms are the entire agreement between us regarding the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data; it is information for you, not part of this agreement.
